On 30 October 2017 Prof. Giandomenico Amendola of the University of Calabria was invited from Heriot-Watt University to present a lecture to students on the progress achieved in the QV-LIFT project. The agenda of the visit included technical deliberations around the QV-LIFT antennas and diplexer as well as co-ordination of WP3: Subsystem Development.
Future research collaboration opportunities were also discussed in the framework of satellite communication activities.
As part of this visit, Prof. Amendola presented the QV-LIFT project to a group of postgraduate students and research staff at Heriot-Watt. The talk focused on antenna solutions for satellite on the move applications, and elaborated on the potential of QV-band for emerging satellite communications systems. Students and researchers had the opportunity to informally interact with Prof. Amendola and as a result of these interactions, an action plan for investigations towards low-profile reflector antennas with the capability to operate in both up- and down-link bands in orthogonal circular polarisation was drawn.
