QV-LIFT initiated its active engagement with the 5G ecosystem

QV-LIFT initiated its active engagement with the 5G ecosystem with a focused presentation to an audience of industrialists from the space sector including operators, integrators and terminal manufacturers, as well as national and international space agencies. The event was organized with the UK’s Knowledge Transfer Network Satellite Terminal Working Group and took place on 28 September 2017, in the 5G Innovation Centre of the University of Surrey, home to a national testbed facility for 5G systems.

Professor George Goussetis from Heriot-Watt University, presented an overview of the QV-LIFT project including the scenarios that it addresses, the ongoing technological developments, as well as the test campaigns and demonstration planned.

In the same event, the H2020-ICT-2016 project Satellite and Terrestrial Network for 5G (Sat5G) was also presented, raising a fruitful discussion around physical and network layers on future wireless communication systems. The event closed with a panel discussion addressing challenges and opportunities for satellite systems in future 5G networks.
